South Africa won the ICC trophy after a gap of 27 years defeating Australia by 5 wickets in the World Test Championship Final of the year 2025. Although Aiden Markram's impressive century (136) helped in this win, Australian captain Pat Cummins has also appreciated the type of perseverance displayed by South African captain Temba Bavuma in the face of the Australian bowlers in spite of being hampered by a hamstring.

Praising the South African team, he said, Aiden Markram and Temba Bavuma did not give us a chance. Nathan Lyon bowled well but did not get any wicket. South Africa showed why they are here and they deserve it. They maintained themselves throughout the match. I like playing Test cricket. Australia reaching the final is an important achievement. This week has been good for us.

When asked about the reasons for the Australian team's defeat, he said, we got the lead in the first innings. After this, we tried to wrap them up as soon as possible but did not succeed. The last two years have been great for us. We could not play unitedly in the final. It seemed as if the pitch would become flat, but it did not happen.

After South Africa was bowled out for 138 runs in the first innings and gave Australia a lead of 74 runs, no one expected that South Africa would do this feat. But after wrapping up Australia for 207 runs in the second innings, South Africa did this feat. The hero of this feat was Aiden Markram who continued his Friday's score of 102 and lost his wicket after taking the team to 276 runs. But by then he had brought South Africa to the threshold of victory. David Bedingham scored an unbeaten 21 and Kyle Verreynne scored an unbeaten four to complete the formalities of victory.
