Women’s ODI World Cup: Bangladesh Outclass Pakistan with Strong All-Round Show

Bangladesh played magnificently in the ICC Women's ODI World Cup 2025, winning against Pakistan by 7 wickets. Batting first in the third match of the World Cup at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka, Pakistan were bowled out for a mere 129 runs in 38.3 overs. In pursuit of the total, Bangladesh won by making 131 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in 31.1 overs.

In pursuit of the 130-run target, which was set by Pakistan, Bangladesh did not turn out well from the beginning. Chasing Fargana Haq's 2 runs were Sharmin Akhtar's 10 runs and captain Nigara Sultan's 23 runs, one after the other. In contrast, Rubia Haider and Shobhana Mostari, while fearlessly tackling the Pakistani bowlers, took their team to victory within only 31.1 overs. Earlier, Pakistan won the toss against Bangladesh and elected to bat first. Pakistan's decision to bat first proved wrong, as the team never recovered from the initial setback. The Pakistan women's cricket team's batsmen struggled for runs throughout the match.

Marufa Akhtar gave Bangladesh a strong start by dismissing opener Omaima Sohail and top-order batsman Sidra Amin in the very first over. After two blows in the very first over, Pakistan lost wickets at regular intervals. As a result, the Pakistani team was all out for 129 runs in 38.3 overs. For Pakistan's women's cricket team, Rameen Shamim scored 23, captain Sana scored 22, and Muneeba Ali was out after scoring 17 runs.

For Bangladesh, Shorna Akhtar took 3 wickets for 5 runs in 3.3 overs. Marufa and Nahida took 2-2 wickets, Nishita, Fahima and Rabia Khan took 1-1 wickets.
