The Reserve Bank of India's 90-year journey will be part of a web series that will help audiences better appreciate the central bank's crucial role in the country's fast-growing economy. The production company Star India has been awarded the Rs 6.5 crore web series preparation tender, according to the RBI.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI), established in 1935, completed 90 years in April this year. After the central bank issued a request for proposal (RFP) for creating a web series in July, Star India Private Limited, Viacom 18, Zee Entertainment Network Limited, and Discovery Communications India were "in the race to produce and distribute it to commemorate the 90th anniversary of RBI".
According to the RBI, Zee Entertainment Network and Discovery Communications India could not proceed beyond the technical evaluation round, while Star India Private Limited and Viacom 18 reached the final round. According to the RBI, Star India has been given a tender of Rs 6.5 crore to create the web series.
According to the RFP document, RBI had expressed its desire to create a web series of five episodes of about 25-30 minutes, which could be broadcast on national TV channels and/or OTT platforms to commemorate the 90-year journey of RBI.
The series, according to an RBI-issued document, would work to enhance the public understanding of the important role a central bank plays in the economy, further participation, and build trust and confidence in its operations and policies.
RBI had invited proposals from production houses, TV channels, and OTT platforms for the preparation of the same. According to the RBI, the first objective of this project is to create an informative as well as interesting series on comprehensive detail about the functions and operations of the RBI during its 90-year journey. This web series shall comprise five episodes of 20 to 25 minutes duration.
