Please tell that Ashraf was involved in the terrorist attack on the Red Fort in 2000. For which the trial court sentenced him to death. This decision was also upheld by the Delhi High Court and the Supreme Court. However, Ashraf has not yet sent the mercy petition to the President.
On 22 December 2000, 6 Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists entered the Red Fort. They fired indiscriminately, in which three people including two army personnel were killed. In this terrorist attack, Rifleman Uma Shankar was martyred on the spot. Whereas, hero Ashok Kumar died in the hospital. Abdullah Thakur, a civilian, was also killed in the attack.

The trial court in the case sentenced Ashraf to death in 2005. Which was also upheld by the Delhi High Court and the Supreme Court.
At present, Ashraf is lodged in Tihar Jail and the jail administration has written a letter to Tis Hazari Court to issue a death warrant for the convict. The court will decide on which day and at what time Ashraf will be hanged.
If Ashraf is hanged then he will be the fourth terrorist who will get a death sentence. Ajmal Kasab, who carried out the Mumbai attack before Ashraf, was hanged on 21 November 2012.
