TCS tops in employing women: 16% of the directors on the board of 500 valuable companies are women

India's largest IT company Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has secured the first position among the top 10 women employers in Hurun India's list of the country's most valuable 500 companies. The company has about 35% i.e. 2.1 lakh women employees. 410 out of 500 companies included in the list have given representation to women on their boards.
These companies have given 3.9 lakh new jobs in the last year. Already 11.6 lakh women are working in these. IT major Infosys employs 1,24,498 women. 88,946 women are employed in Wipro and 62,780 in HCL Technologies. 40%, 36%, and 28% of the female employees are employed in these companies.
Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Industries Limited has emerged as the country's most valuable listed company with a value of Rs 17.25 lakh crore. TCS is the second most valuable listed company in the country and HDFC Bank is the third most valuable listed company in India. Adani Total Gas and Adani Enterprises are two companies of Gautam Adani on this list.
Talking about government companies, the State Bank of India has topped the ranking with the highest growth of 14%. Along with this, valuations of startups like Policy Bazaar, Paytm, Zomato and Nykaa have also come down drastically. Vaccine maker Serum Institute of India is the country's most valuable unlisted company in the list with a market cap of Rs 2.19 lakh crore.
Women hold 16% of the board of directors positions in the 500 most valuable companies. In these companies, 664 women have been included as directors. Apollo Hospital Enterprises has appointed the maximum number of women directors at six, while Godrej Consumers, Piramal and India Cements have appointed five women directors each.
