Before WC and Asia Cup, Bangladesh has solved the captaincy issue, this star all-rounder got the captaincy of the team

Bangladesh on Friday named veteran all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan as its ODI captain for both the Asia Cup and the 2023 World Cup. Apart from the two major events, Bangladesh will play an ODI series against New Zealand in late September before traveling to India for the World Cup starting on October 5.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Nazmul Hasan said that we have appointed Shakib Al Hasan as the captain for the Asia Cup and the World Cup. The World Cup and Asia Cup squads will be announced tomorrow. The selectors will pick a squad of 17 members.

Shakib has replaced Tamim Iqbal, who has been ruled out of the Asia Cup due to a back injury. Tamim is now preparing to play the home ODI series against New Zealand starting on 21 September. Tamim announced his retirement from international cricket on 6 July but changed his decision the following afternoon after Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina urged him to reconsider his decision.
