Rukart, an agritech firm that sells 'vegetable coolers' to increase the shelf life of fruits and vegetables, has tied up with the country's largest public sector bank State Bank of India (SBI) for easy loan options to make its products accessible to customers easily. Have done
Rukart was established in May 2019. This company manufactures a cold chain storage system vegetable cooler. This machine requires only 20 liters of water a day to function. It increases the shelf life of fruits, flowers, and vegetables by 4-6 days.
The vegetable cooler manufactured by Rukart has a storage capacity of 100 kg and is priced at Rs 50,000. Rukart is advised by the Powering Livelihoods program, run jointly by the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW) and the Villgro Innovation Foundation.
Rukart informed that it aims to reduce distress sales among marginal/small farmers and retailers for which the company has joined hands with the country's largest bank to provide easy and low installment loans to small farmers.
Rukart said that in the last four years, it has deployed over 1,000 vegetable coolers across 10 states in the country including Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Telangana. In the year of its inception, Rukart did a turnover of around Rs 63 lakh by selling 126 vegetable coolers in Maharashtra.
Dinesh Kumar Jha, AGM, Solapur SBI, Maharashtra, said the tie-up with Rukart would reduce the carbon footprint and also help bridge the gap between agricultural sectors.
The tie-up will help farmers and retailers adopt clean energy-based cold chain solutions, said Sharayu S Kulkarni, co-founder, of Rukart. Kulkarni said, "Our vegetable cooler is user-friendly. It can be installed at farm gates/retail outlets without the need for any external power."
