IMD Issues Orange Alert for Southeast Rajasthan - Heavy Rain Floods Roads in Bharatpur, Alwar and Karauli
Today's Weather: An orange alert for heavy rain has been issued in Rajasthan today for Baran, Bharatpur, Deeg, Dholpur, and Jhalawar. A yellow alert has been issued in most districts. Rainfall is expected to weaken from July 11th.



The monsoon season is well established in eastern Rajasthan, but western Rajasthan is yet to witness the rains. Several districts in the west remain to witness the monsoon. An orange alert has been issued by the Meteorological Centre in Jaipur for eastern and south-eastern Rajasthan comprising of Baran, Bharatpur, Deeg, Dholpur, and Jhalawar.
These areas may face extremely heavy rainfall at some places. The yellow alert remains in effect for most parts of the state excluding Jaisalmer, Barmer, Jodhpur, and Jalore of Western Rajasthan. The Meteorological department has predicted that light to moderate rainfall along with thundershowers and possibly heavy rain can occur in these areas.
During the past 24 hours, good rainfall was recorded in eastern and southern Rajasthan. Bayana in Bharatpur and Mandrayal in Karauli received over 84 mm of rain, while Bhadesar and Nimbahera in Chittorgarh also recorded nearly three inches of rain. Heavy rain also lashed several areas of Alwar, Dausa, Dholpur, Karauli, Kota, and Udaipur divisions. Roads were flooded in several districts, including Bharatpur, Alwar, Karauli, and Chittorgarh.
The continuous rain also brought down temperatures. Maximum temperatures dropped below 35 degrees Celsius in many cities, including Jaipur, Alwar, Tonk, Chittorgarh, Sirohi, Dausa, Pratapgarh, Jhunjhunu, Ajmer, and Bhilwara, providing relief from the humidity and heat. Jaisalmer recorded the highest temperature in the state at 41.6 degrees Celsius.
