PV Sindhu’s Dream Run Ends in Paris as Wardani Reaches Semi-Finals
India's star shuttler PV Sindhu was knocked out of the tournament after losing to PK Wardani of Indonesia in the quarter-finals of the BWF World Championship. With this defeat, Sindhu also missed out on achieving a major achievement. It is worth noting that in the last round, PV Sindhu defeated world number two player Wang Zhi Yi 21-19, 21-15 to make it to the quarter-finals.

After an excellent performance at the BWF World Championship 2025, PV Sindhu was defeated in the quarter-finals of the championship by Indonesian PK Wardani. The two leading players battled on August 29, and Wardani took the first and third games to reach the semi-finals. Had Sindhu won the game, she would have collected a historic sixth medal at the World Championship and overpowered Chinese legend Zhang Ning.
Sindhu lost to Wardani 14-21, 21-13, 16-21 and was eliminated from the tournament in Paris. Sindhu, who was world-ranked 15th, began the match a bit slowly. She lost the first game and appeared to be a bit weak having lost the first game.
However, she made a brilliant comeback and won the second game 21-13. She could not stop the Indonesian player in the third game. Wardani made it to the semi-finals of the World Championship by winning four consecutive points.
