There has been no change in the prices of petrol and diesel even today i.e. on 16th April. The prices have remained stable for almost 11 months. Petrol in Delhi costs Rs 96.72, while diesel is being sold at Rs 89.62 per litre. Whereas in Mumbai, petrol is priced at Rs 106.31 and diesel at Rs 94.27 per litre.
The costliest fuel in India is being sold in Sriganganagar, Rajasthan. Here the price of one litre of petrol has reached Rs 113.30 per litre and the price of diesel has reached Rs 98.07 per litre. Whereas in Maharashtra's Parbhani, petrol is being sold at Rs 109.26 per litre and diesel at Rs 95.66 per litre.
The last time petrol-diesel prices were changed was in May 2022. Then excise duty was reduced by Rs 8 on petrol and Rs 6 per litre on diesel. Due to this, the prices of petrol and diesel were reduced by Rs 9.5 and Rs 7 respectively. In July 2022, the Maharashtra government cut VAT on petrol and diesel by Rs 5 and Rs 3 per litre.
Petrol is above Rs 100 per litre in 16 states of the country. Petrol has reached Rs 100 in all districts of Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Manipur, Telangana, Punjab, Jharkhand, Sikkim, Odisha, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan. On the other hand, if we talk about diesel, it has gone above 100 rupees in Odisha, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.
Oil marketing companies decide the rates of petrol and diesel on a daily basis after reviewing the prices. Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum issue revised petrol and diesel rates daily at 6 am.
It has been decided to increase the petrol price in Pakistan by Rs 10 (Pakistani Rupee). After this, the price of one litre of petrol in the country has gone up to Rs 282 per litre. Apart from this, the price of kerosene has also been increased by Rs 12.90. Due to this, its price has gone up to Rs 202.73 per litre.
