New overflowing in July record of Bisalpur Dam, got fully filled for the 8th time, gates to open at 10 am
Bisalpur News: Bisalpur dam of Rajasthan is seen to be completely filled for the first time in July since its construction. Today at 10 am, the gates of Bisalpur will be opened in the presence of Water Resources Minister Suresh Rawat.

The Bisalpur Dam, which supplies water to over one crore people in Rajasthan, is set to overflow today. This marks the first time the dam will be entirely filled in July. Additionally, it has set a new record by being fully filled for the second consecutive year. Since its construction, the dam has never been completely filled two years in a row; it typically takes 2 to 3 years to reach full capacity. Prahlad Raika, Superintending Engineer of the Bisalpur Dam Project, says that because the dam's water level is nearing full and there is continuous inflow from the catchment area, it was decided to open the dam gates after consulting with senior officials.
By Tuesday morning, the dam had reached over 97.28 percent of its capacity. The gauge reading in the morning crossed 315.35 meters, close to the full capacity of 315.50 RL. Around 10 a.m. on Tuesday, in the presence of Water Resources Minister Suresh Singh Rawat, the dam gates will be opened to release water into the Banas River. There is great excitement among locals about the dam overflowing. On Monday, visitors gathered at the dam site throughout the day. Water continues to flow into the dam from the Triveni River. An appeal has been made to keep a safe distance from the dam's flow area before opening the gates.
In Rajasthan, rainfall has decreased over the past 48 hours. Radheshyam Sharma, Director of the Meteorological Center Jaipur, stated, "The monsoon trough line has now shifted north from its usual position. Currently, it passes through Jammu and Chandigarh." He predicts light to moderate rain in some parts of eastern Rajasthan in the coming days. He added that in the next 4-5 days, only isolated areas might see light to moderate rain, while most regions will experience clear weather. Furthermore, a new weather system is expected to arrive in eastern Rajasthan around July 27-28, which could bring heavy rains back to the state.
