New Move by Google: Apps That Drain Battery May Lose Recommendations on Google Play Store

In the tech world, Google is taking a step to ensure Android users benefit from their service. Apps that use battery power excessively will now come with a warning in the Google Play Store. This is because if an app continues running in the background and uses the battery excessively, users will be alerted before they download the app.

In addition, Google claims that apps that use the battery excessively will not be included in the recommendations in the Play Store. This is aimed at encouraging app developers to come up with better apps for users.

According to the company, apps with high battery usage will display a warning message on their page. For example, a message stating that the app may be using more battery than expected due to background activity will alert users before downloading the app.

The Android system includes a feature called Partial Wake Lock. It allows apps to keep the CPU running even when the screen is off. If an app overuses this feature, the phone continues to work in the background, draining the battery faster.

According to Google, if an app keeps Partial Wake Lock active for an average of 2 hours or more after the screen is off in more than 5% of user sessions over the past 28 days, it will be classified as bad behavior. Such apps will be monitored through the Android Vitals system and displayed with a warning on the Play Store.

This move by Google is considered significant in several ways. This will provide users with advance information about battery consumption.
