Meg Lanning Overtakes Harmanpreet Kaur to Become Second-Highest WPL Run-Scorer
DC W vs UP W: UP Warriors captain Meg Lanning achieved a major milestone against Delhi Capitals on Wednesday. Lanning became the third female batter to reach 1,000 runs in the WPL. During this innings, Lanning also surpassed Mumbai Indians captain Harmanpreet Kaur. Nat Siver Brunt holds the record for most runs in WPL history.
The captain of the UP Warriors, Meg Lanning, reached a milestone in the seventh match of the WPL being played between the UP Warriors and the Delhi Capitals on Wednesday. Lanning achieved the milestone as soon as she scored her fifth run in the match being held at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
Meg Lanning achieved 1,000 runs in the WPL, making her the third female batswoman to achieve this feat. Lanning started her innings strongly, surpassing the Mumbai Indians’ captain Harmanpreet Kaur. Meg Lanning has also become the second-highest run-scorer in the history of WPL.
Requiring only four more runs to achieve 1,000 runs, she easily crossed this milestone, etching her name in the WPL history books. Later, she required 20 more runs to overcome Harmanpreet Kaur's record. Lanning continued her innings with remarkable efficiency, surpassing the Mumbai Indians captain.
It's worth noting that only three female batters have managed to surpass the 1,000-run mark in WPL history. The England women's cricket team and Mumbai Indians all-rounder Nat Sciver Brunt hold the record for the most runs in WPL history.
