Filmmaker Lomharsh’s short film Planet has clinched the Best Short Film Fiction Award at the 17th Jaipur International Film Festival (JIFF).

Indo-Australian filmmaker Lomharsh’s short film Planet has clinched the Best Short Film Fiction Award at the 17th Jaipur International Film Festival (JIFF). The 25-minute film offers a stirring exploration of the global climate crisis through the eyes of five children determined to save the Earth.
Planet masterfully portrays the devastating impacts of climate change, driven by the innovative teaching of a compassionate educator who inspires her students to confront environmental destruction. Disheartened by the lack of action from adults, the young protagonists take it upon themselves to initiate change, sending a powerful message of hope and responsibility.
The film has already garnered acclaim as a semi-finalist at the 12th CMS Vatavaran Film Festival, further solidifying its impact as a cinematic call to action. With Planet, Lomharsh, celebrated for Yeh Hai India and the Chicken Biryani Series, continues his tradition of delivering socially relevant stories that inspire audiences globally.
Enhancing the film’s emotional depth is a soul-stirring soundtrack by Kumar Deepak, featuring vocals by Altamash Faridi and Swati Sharma, with evocative lyrics by Nitu Pandey Kranti. The stellar cast, including Sanjay Vyas, Mitali Nankani, and a group of promising young talents, delivers authentic and moving performances.
Key contributions from casting director Kumar Shyam, cinematographer Raj Kiran Gupta, and editor Varun Daya Shanakar bring Lomharsh’s vision to life. Produced by Sandeep Choudhary under Shilom Media LLP, Planet marks the duo’s third consecutive award-winning collaboration after Yeh Hai India and Chicken Biryani.
The film’s artistry is further enhanced by art director Vinay Singh and makeup artist Shakeel Khan, ensuring a realistic and impactful visual narrative.
Planet is now set to captivate global audiences with upcoming screenings at international film festivals, continuing its mission to raise awareness about the urgency of climate action. As the world faces mounting environmental challenges, Planet serves as a timely and inspiring reminder that the fight for our planet’s future lies in our hands.
