Sri Lanka started defending before Thursday's 290 runs for two wickets. In the morning sessions on Friday, Sri Lanka lost their third wicket to Pathum Nissanka. Pathum Nissanka had an inning of 158 runs on 254 balls with 19 fours. Immediately after this, Sri Lanka captain Dhananjay de Silva was bowled by LBW by Taijul Islam (seven). After this, except for Kusal Mendis, other Sri Lankan batsmen failed against the Bangladesh bowling attack.
