Jaya Bachchan said in Nation's podcast - Indianness ended only when women started wearing pants
Actress Jaya Bachchan recently commented on the fashion sense of Indian women in her granddaughter Navya Naveli Nanda's podcast. During the conversation, Jaya Bachchan said that she does not understand why nowadays people prefer western clothes instead of Indian clothes. At the same time, he also said that Indianness had ended only when women started wearing pants.
Jaya said, 'I think very unknowingly we have accepted that western clothes give manpower to a woman. I would love to see a woman in Nari Shakti. I am not saying, 'Go wear a saree'. But even in Western women wear nice clothes. All this changed much later when he started wearing pants.
Reacting to this, Shweta Bachchan says, 'We can easily go anywhere by wearing this. Many women are not at home, they go out because they are getting jobs. It is easier to wear a pair of pants and a T-shirt than a saree.
This is not the first time Jaya Bachchan has grabbed headlines for voicing her views. Earlier, in the podcast, he has spoken openly about the relationship, etc. A few days ago, he told Navya in the show, 'I feel that today's children lack feelings and romance, so I think that today's children should marry their best friend because it is very important to understand each other first. It is necessary. I feel that if you love someone, then you should be comfortable marrying him and I have no problem even if you have a child before getting married.
Jaya married Amitabh Bachchan in 1973. They have two children Shweta and Abhishek. Navya is the daughter of Shweta. Jaya is all set to make a comeback in Bollywood soon. She will be next seen in the 2023 film Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. Directed by Karan Johar, the film also stars Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Dharmendra, and Shabana Azmi in lead roles.
