ISRO has achieved another major milestone related to India's first human mission Gaganyaan. On Friday, ISRO said that the first solid motor segment required for Gaganyaan was transported from the production plant to the launch complex. Earlier on December 6, ISRO conducted the 'well deck' recovery trial of Gaganyaan with the Indian Navy.
In a post on X, ISRO said "A significant milestone for the Gaganyaan Program! The first solid motor segment has been moved from the production plant to the launch complex, marking a key step towards the HLVM3 G1 flight. India's human spaceflight dreams are taking shape!"
Gaganyaan will be India's first human space flight mission. It has been committed that astronauts would be sent to a height of 400 km by 2025. The three-day mission includes the Gaganyaan mission.
According to ISRO, the Gaganyaan project envisages launching a three-member crew into a 400 km orbit for a three-day mission and landing in Indian sea waters. After this, it is envisaged to bring them back safely to Earth and demonstrate human space flight capability. ISRO is rapidly preparing for this.
A trial of well deck recovery was conducted by the ISRO on December 6. "During the well deck in the ship can be filled with water so that boats, landing craft and recovered spacecraft taken inside the ship," the Indian space agency had said.
