Ishan Kishan’s Century Powers Jharkhand to Historic Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Win

Jharkhand defeated Haryana in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025 final on Thursday to win the title for the first time. Played on the MCA Stadium ground in Pune, the first innings was batted by Jharkhand, who scored 262/3 in 20 overs. They included a hundred from the captain himself, Ishan Kishan. Haryana had to chase the massive target of 263, which saw their collapse to just 193, thus rendering the loss by 69 runs. Although Jharkhand has won their second national-level domestic cricket tournament, they won the Vijay Hazare Trophy back in the 2010-11 season.
Speaking about this match, Haryana won the toss and chose to bat first. Ishan Kishan and Virat Singh opened the innings for Jharkhand, but the first wicket came in the first over with a score of 3, with Virat Singh getting dismissed for two runs only. Ishan Kishan was then joined by Kumar Kushagra, and together they added 177 runs. Ishan Kishan scored a century in 45 balls and was dismissed for 101 off 49 balls, hitting 6 fours and 10 sixes. In the very next over, Kumar Kushagra also departed, having played a blistering innings of 81 off 38 balls.
Anukul Roy and Robin Minj then batted brilliantly in the final overs, scoring 75 runs in the last 30 balls. Anukul Roy remained unbeaten on 40 off 20 balls, while Robin Minj made 31 off 14 balls. For Haryana, Anshul Kamboj, Sumit Kumar, and Sumit Jakhar took one wicket each. Amit Rana proved to be the most expensive bowler, conceding 48 runs in three overs.
The target of 263 runs was the highest target in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy final. Haryana had a disastrous start, losing three batsmen for just 36 runs. Wicketkeeper-batsman Yashwardhan Dalal then raised hopes with a 22-ball 53. Nishant Sindhu also made a quickfire 31 runs in 15 balls. However, after the two were dismissed, Haryana's innings was short-lived. Ultimately, Haryana was all out for 193 runs in 18.3 overs. Jharkhand won the match by 69 runs, winning the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy for the first time.
