Iran: Pezeshkian also expressed hope for expanding trade and infrastructure cooperation between India and Iran. He said that the development of Chabahar port in Iran can help promote strategic relations between India, Iran, and Russia in the region.

Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian called Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday. While doing so, the Iranian President firmly criticized the Pahalgam terror attack as well as emphasized implementing more regional collaboration against terrorism. Last week, 26 innocent visitors were mercilessly murdered in the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir. It was India's largest terrorist attack of the past decade, which left the entire world stunned.
Supporting India, the Iranian President stressed the need to root out terrorism. The President said, 'These tragic events increase the shared responsibility of all countries in the region and force them to eradicate the roots of terrorism through empathy, solidarity, and close cooperation; only then can lasting peace and harmony be ensured in the region.' He also referred to the legacy of India's founding leaders, Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru, and called them 'messengers of peace and friendship'. The Iranian Embassy in India reported that President Pezeshkian said that Iran greatly respects India and its prominent leaders like Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru, who were messengers of peace, friendship, and coexistence. The President also hoped that this spirit of India would remain in relations with all countries.
Pezeshkian also hoped to expand trade and infrastructure cooperation between India and Iran. He said that the development of Chabahar port in Iran could help promote strategic relations between India, Iran, and Russia in the region. The Chabahar port, developed by India, is considered a gateway for trade with Central Asian countries. The Iranian President has also invited PM Modi to Tehran to enhance cooperation between the two countries.
During the conversation, PM Modi appreciated Iran's sympathy over the Pahalgam terror attack. He also expressed deep sorrow over the massive explosion that took place yesterday at Shahid Rajai Port, Iran's largest commercial port. 14 people have died in this explosion in Iran, and a large number of people are injured. It is noteworthy that Iran has also offered to mediate amid the increased tension between India and Pakistan due to the Pahalgam attack.
United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan also spoke to PM Modi over the phone and strongly condemned the Pahalgam terror attack. He talked about supporting India. Indian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said on social media that both leaders agreed that terrorism should be rejected in all its forms. PM Modi also appreciated the UAE President's condolences.
