Instagram Update: He wrote: “Now if you upload a 3:4 image, it will appear exactly as you have taken it.” Most photos taken from smartphones are in 3:4 ratio. Now Instagram has officially started supporting photos with an aspect ratio, i.e. 3:4 ratio. This is the same format that is the default of most smartphone cameras; that is, now users will not need to crop photos before posting them on Instagram.
Till now, Instagram only supported photos of 5:4 and 1:1 (square) ratio, but now, when you upload a 3:4 ratio photo in a single post or carousel, it will appear in the same format as you took it. The announcement was made by Instagram chief Adam Mosseri in a post on Threads.

This feature will work in both single photo posts and carousel posts. An example has also been shared on Instagram's broadcast channel showing how much more information is present in a 3:4 image compared to a cropped 4:5 image.
