India's campaign ends in Indonesia Masters with defeat of Chirag-Satwik, Lakshya
Indonesia Masters 2025: Lakshya Sen's struggle continues in the international circuit. On Thursday, he lost to Japan's Kenta Nishimoto in the second round of the Indonesia Masters Super 500 badminton tournament.



With the second-round defeat of Chirag Shetty-SatwikSairaj Rankireddy and Lakshya Sen, India's campaign in Indonesia Masters 2025 concluded on Thursday. In this match, the pair of reigning Asian Games champions Chirag Shetty and SatwikSairaj Rankireddy faced a loss against Thailand's Kittinupong Kedren and Dechapol Puavaranukroh. The Thai pair outplayed Chirag-Satwik in a match that lasted 50 minutes with 22-20 and 23-21. The Indian duo lost three game points in the first game and two in the second game.
World number 10 Lakshya Sen bowed out of the BWF Super 500 tournament after losing to Japan's Kenta Nishimoto in the Round of 16 match that lasted one hour and 13 minutes. While 15th-ranked Kenta Nishimoto won the opening game, Lakshya Sen aggressively fought to pocket the second. Saving one match point to push the third and deciding game into a nail-biting tiebreak, Lakshya Sen finally lost the contest 21-16, 12-21, 23-21 as the Japanese made a brilliant recovery.
This was Lakshya Sen's fifth encounter with Kenta Nishimoto and despite this defeat, the Indian shuttler currently leads him 3-2 in head-to-head matches. With Sen's exit in Round 2, India's singles campaign in the men's and women's categories at the Indonesia Masters also ended.
