India's 'auspicious' start, Yashasvi-Gill hit centuries; England bowlers were out of breath on the first day

The England and India five-Test series started. Indian batsmen blazed during the first day of Leeds' first Test match. India reached 359 for three wickets by the close of play on the first day. Shubman Gill, captain, came unbeaten, scoring 127 and Rishabh Pant 65. Yashasvi Jaiswal played a hundred as well. Ben Stokes took two wickets.

Indian batting, led by Shubman Gill, made a great start. KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal made a tremendous start. The two made a solid platform by scoring 91 runs for the first wicket. India reached 92 runs and two wickets down in the first session. KL Rahul was dismissed for 42, and Sai Sudarshan without scoring.

England ended the first session positively by taking two wickets in the 25th and 26th overs. In the second session, India did not give the host team any chance at all. By the end of the second session, India scored 215 runs for the loss of two wickets. There was a partnership of 129 runs between Jaiswal and Gill.

However, after scoring a century at the beginning of the third session, Jaiswal lost his concentration and was clean bowled by Ben Stokes. Yashasvi was dismissed after scoring 101 runs. After this, India did not lose any wickets.

Gill and Pant did not lose any wickets in the last session. There was an unbeaten partnership of 138 runs between the two for the fourth wicket. Captain Shubman Gill scored a century while playing a captaincy innings, and vice-captain Rishabh Pant returned unbeaten after scoring a half-century. Captain Ben Stokes took two wickets for England.
