Girl student gang-raped in front of friend in Tamil Nadu

A case of gang rape with a college student has come to light near the Bangalore-Puducherry highway in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu. The accused threatened the victim and his friend at knifepoint and took them away. After this the incident took place. The police have arrested all five accused. All have been sent to judicial custody.
The incident took place around 7 pm on Thursday when the victim and his friend were standing near a private school and talking. Then a group of five people surrounded them and started threatening them at knifepoint and also threatened to kill them. They then took turns raping the victim in front of the friend and also threatened to kill and bury her.
Taking a chance, the victim and her friend fled the spot and reached their relatives, who admitted the girl student to a hospital and informed the police. The victim told the police that she could not recognize anyone due to lack of light, but one of the accused called the other Vimal.
The police started an investigation and the team traced the accused Vimal in Vipadu village. When Vimal was strictly interrogated, the Tamil Nadu police also caught the other four accused. They have been identified as Manikandan, Sivakumar, Vignesh and Thenarasu. All five accused have been charged with rape and are currently lodged in jail.
