A teenager stabbed and injured an eight-year-old schoolboy in eastern Germany on Wednesday. This information has been given by the local police. Police said the incident took place in Bischofswerda, east of the city of Dresden, reports German news agency DPA.

According to the regional education ministry, the boy was immediately taken by helicopter to a hospital with head and neck injuries. At present, the condition of the student is said to be stable. Police initially said the victim was a girl, but then corrected that information.

The 16-year-old attacker, who was a student, was immediately overpowered and taken to the hospital. Police were informed about this soon after the incident, after which the team reached the spot.

According to the police, the situation is under control. The school building was evacuated after police were informed about the situation at around 9:45 am.
