MEA Confirms Resumption of India–China Flights; IndiGo to Fly Daily from Delhi to Guangzhou

On Saturday, Indigo announced the resumption of daily direct flights between Delhi and Guangzhou, China, starting November 10th. Flights on this route will be operated by Indigo's Airbus A320 aircraft. The airline made this announcement following the Ministry of External Affairs' (MEA) confirmation of the resumption of direct flights between India and China on October 3rd.

The ministry had also stated that the resumption of direct flights is a sign of improving relations between India and China. These flights were suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the Doklam standoff. A spokesperson for the Chinese Embassy also confirmed the resumption of flights between the two countries. It's worth noting that just a few weeks ago, IndiGo announced the launch of daily flights between Kolkata and Guangzhou from October 26th.

Regarding the India-China flights, IndiGo's Head of Global Sales, Vinay Malhotra, said, "In addition to the recently resumed route from Kolkata, we are pleased to expand our connectivity with China with daily direct flights between Delhi and Guangzhou. The resumption of operations between the world's two most populous countries offers immense potential for cultural exchange and economic cooperation." He further added, "Through Guangzhou, IndiGo will connect to China's vast domestic and international network. This will further expand new opportunities for trade, investment, tourism, and education in both countries. This will also strengthen our commitment to connecting India to the world."
