Karnataka will get electric buses under PM E-Drive scheme, distribution will be done in a phased manner
Electric Buses: The Karnataka government has demanded electric buses from the central government with the aim of improving urban transport. The state's proposal has received a positive response from the central government.



The Karnataka government has called for electric buses from the central government with the objective of enhancing city transport. To that effect, the state Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy has made a formal submission before the Ministry of Heavy Industries. In which the necessity of augmenting public transport in big cities through electric buses has been mentioned.
The state's bid has been welcomed by the central government. Union Heavy Industries and Steel Minister HD Kumaraswamy met with high-ranking ministry officials and promised Karnataka all support. He added that the allocation of buses is being processed, and electric buses will be supplied to Karnataka on a priority and phased basis.
HD Kumaraswamy said, "Due to the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, public transport is being revamped across the country. Karnataka will also definitely get electric buses under the PM E-Drive scheme."
