The third season of the Women's Premier League (WPL) is going to start tomorrow i.e., on 14 February. There was a heavy loss to defending champions Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Mumbai Indians (MI) earlier. All-rounder Pooja Vastrakar of Mumbai and leg-spinner Asha Shobhana of RCB have been excluded from the entire season due to injury. The two players, who got injured, have been replaced by their respective teams subsequently.

Parunika Sisodia, a member of the Indian team that won the Under-19 World Cup in Malaysia, and Railways wicketkeeper-batswoman Nuzhat Parveen have been included in MI's and RCB's squads respectively. MI coach Charlotte Edwards in the pre-season media meet mentioned that it is a challenge to replace Pooja Vastrakar's position. The left-arm spinner Sisodia cannot be a replacement for Vastrakar, but her present performance is a plus point for Mumbai.

It is worth mentioning that the third edition of WPL is going to start on Friday. All the matches of this tournament will be played in Vadodara, Bengaluru, Lucknow, and Mumbai. The opening match of the tournament will be played between Gujarat Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore tomorrow.
