BCB Names Saif Hassan T20 Captain; Shanto and Mehidy Hasan Get Key Vice-Captaincy Roles Across Formats

The Bangladesh Cricket Board has named young cricketer Saif Hassan captain of the T20 team. Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Nazmul Hossain Shanto have been made vice-captains of the Test and ODI teams, respectively. The board announced this on Tuesday.

The BCB said in a statement, "Saif Hassan has been appointed as the vice-captain of the T20 team due to his consistent and impressive performances in the shortest format for Bangladesh. Liton Das has been named captain until the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026."

The BCB stated that Mehidy has been appointed vice-captain of the Bangladesh Test team, serving as deputy to Nazmul Hossain Shanto. Shanto will remain captain until the end of the current ICC Test Championship cycle. In the ODI format, Nazmul Hossain Shanto will serve as vice-captain under Mehidy Hasan Miraz. Miraz was appointed as ODI captain in June this year for a one-year term.

A Bangladesh Cricket Board official stated on Tuesday (November 18) that the upcoming women's tour of India in December has been postponed indefinitely. Bangladesh was scheduled to play three ODIs and as many T20Is in India starting mid-December. Recently, the BCCI informed the board that they could not host the series as they wanted to give the players a longer break following their first World Cup win.
