Shocking news has been received from the football world. 21-year-old former Arsenal player Billy Vigar is dead. He had fallen critically ill after suffering a severe brain injury during a non-league Premier League game in England, falling into a coma. Billy Vigar's death has been confirmed by Chichester City.
The English Football Association (EFA) expressed its deepest condolences on Vigar's death, saying, "We are deeply saddened by the passing of Billy Vigar. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and everyone at Chichester City FC at this difficult time." Vigar collided with a wall during a match against Wingate & Finchley FC last week, causing a serious head injury. He was placed in a coma and underwent surgery on Tuesday, but his condition remained critical. According to a club statement, the injury was so severe that he died on the morning of September 25th.
In the wake of this tragic accident, Lewes's match against Chichester City on September 27th has been rescheduled. The Isthmian League Premier Division has also released a statement saying that there would be a minute's silence before every match this week and players would be wearing black armbands.
Billy Vigar was born in Worthing, West Sussex, England, in 2003. He joined the Arsenal Youth Academy at the age of 14 and went on to play at the U18 and U21 levels. In 2022, he signed his first professional contract with Arsenal. However, he failed to break into Arsenal's Premier League squad.

He was loaned to Derby County U21 for the second half of the 2022-23 season. He also played non-league football for Eastbourne Borough. After leaving Arsenal in 2021, Vigar signed with Hastings United. He then joined Chichester City in the summer of 2025, playing in the Isthmian League Premier Division (the seventh tier of English football).
