America's Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti: Daughter holds Bible in hand

Eric Garcetti has been appointed as the US Ambassador to India on Friday. This post was lying vacant for two years due to the pending nomination of Eric Garcetti in the US Parliament from July 2021. US Vice President Kamala Harris swears in Eric Garcetti as US Ambassador.
The White House has given information about this by sharing the video on social media. In the video, Eric's daughter Maya is seen standing holding a Bible during the oath-taking ceremony. The entire family including Eric's wife attended the ceremony.
Garcetti accused of mishandling sexual assault case
After being sworn in as the US ambassador to India, Garcetti said he is looking forward to getting started. The delay in the appointment of 52-year-old Garcetti was being questioned for a long time. In fact, in the US, Garcetti was accused of not handling a sexual assault case properly. According to reports, he tried to defend his friend and advisor Rick Jacobs in a sexual harassment case while he was mayor of Los Angeles.
Due to being stuck in this dispute for many months, the US Parliament was not stamping his name. After which Biden nominated him again in January this year. Voting was held in the US Parliament on Wednesday to make Garcetti the ambassador of India. In this, 52 MPs voted in support of Garcetti while 42 MPs voted against him. According to the New York Times, the people of Biden's own party are not in support of making Garcetti the ambassador of India.
Garcetti's supporters were demanding his early appointment amid the ever-changing world order and India's growing importance in it. There was no one in the post of US Ambassador to India since January 2021. This happened for the first time in history.
Foreign affairs expert Meenakshi Ahmed has written an article in the New York Times regarding the importance of the US Ambassador to India. In this, he said, "When China attacked India in 1962, John Kenneth Galbraith was the US ambassador in New Delhi. Galbraith was considered close to the then US President John F Kennedy. He also had good relations with the then Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru. He is considered to have played an important role in sending the consignment of American weapons to India during the war.
At the same time, India has recently become the fifth-largest economy in the world by leaving Britain. American companies are increasingly interested in investing in India. The American Embassy can help a lot in this. On the other hand, America also needs India to deal with the challenge of China. In such a situation, the importance of the US Ambassador in India increases further.
At the same time, many experts have blamed political lethargy for presidential nominations not being approved by the Senate. The US does not have a permanent ambassador in 50 countries, including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar and the UAE.
