All Omni Bus Association of Tamil Nadu Halts Services to Kerala After Heavy Fines by Kerala Transport Department
Kerala: The All Omni Bus Owners Association has announced the suspension of its bus services to the neighboring state of Kerala in protest against the heavy fines imposed there. The association claimed that the Kerala Transport Department imposed a total fine of Rs 70 lakh and confiscated more than 30 buses for alleged permit violations.
The All Omni Bus Association of Tamil Nadu has said that it will suspend its bus services to neighbouring Kerala in protest against heavy fines imposed on it by the Kerala government. The association said this decision would come into effect from the night of November 7. This decision may cause inconvenience to hundreds of passengers, especially Ayyappa devotees going on the Sabarimala pilgrimage.
The association has claimed that the Kerala Transport Department imposed a total fine of Rs 70 lakh and confiscated more than 30 buses for alleged permit violations. Association President A. Anbalagan said that buses coming from Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, and other places have been fined between ₹2 lakh and ₹2.5 lakh per bus. The Kerala Transport Department imposed the fines suddenly on November 7th, causing inconvenience to our passengers and us. He said that passengers were upset by this sudden action and claimed that bookings for 150 buses were cancelled. The association has appealed to the Tamil Nadu government to immediately intervene and resolve the issue.
