Airbus Board to Convene in Delhi, Marking Six Decades of India Presence

Aircraft maker Airbus will be convening its board of directors meeting in the national capital next week. This is the first time the Airbus board would be meeting in India. India is a major market for the top aerospace firm. The firm already procures services and components valued over $1.4 billion from India. An Airbus official stated on Thursday that Airbus views immense opportunities in India's pool of talent, its robust industrial ecosystem, and its unabashed 'Make in India' vision.
Airbus, which has a significant presence in India's civilian aviation and defense domains, is also establishing two final assembly lines for the H125 helicopters and C29 5military aircraft. Both final assembly lines are being established in partnership with Tata Advanced Systems Limited.
The official said that Airbus's board of directors will meet in the national capital early next week. This will be the first time the board is meeting in India since the aircraft manufacturer began operations here six decades ago. According to the Airbus website, the board has 12 members, with René Obermann as chairman. An Airbus spokesperson said that the board's visit to India is a significant moment, as the country is a key hub for its global operations.

"We have already exceeded our target of supplying more than US$1.4 billion worth of components and services annually. We are poised to significantly increase this figure as we continue to further integrate India into our global value chain," the spokesperson said in a statement. IndiGo and Air India, among other companies, have together placed orders for more than 1,000 aircraft with Airbus.
According to the spokesperson, Airbus's investment in India is growing across all sectors, including the growing engineering and digital hub in Bengaluru, which is integral to its global operations, and the expansion of its industrial sector. The spokesperson said this visit will reinforce that commitment and strengthen Airbus's role as a reliable partner to India.
In March, Airbus CEO Guillaume Faury said the aircraft manufacturer would significantly increase its annual supply of components and services from India, reaching $2 billion before 2030.
