Air India Customers to Access Calgary, Edmonton, Montreal, Halifax & More via Air Canada
Air India: In a statement, Air India said the codeshare agreement will be effective from December 2, 2025. The agreement will provide Air India customers with convenient access to six destinations in Canada, in addition to its gateways in Vancouver and London (Heathrow). Let's explore this in detail.
Air India on Saturday announced the restoration of the codeshare agreement with Air Canada, its Star Alliance partner airline, a move that would increase the flying options for passengers and improve connectivity between India and Canada. Codeshare refers to an agreement between airlines to sell seats available on other flights in a particular route, thereby allowing them to operate to different destinations.
Air India, in a statement, said the codeshare agreement will come into effect from December 2, 2025. Subsequent to the agreement, Air India will offer its customers seamless connectivity to six destinations in Canada, besides its gateways in Vancouver and London (Heathrow).
The agreement will allow Air India to deploy its AI designer code on flights operated by Air Canada on the following routes: Vancouver to Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Montreal, and Halifax; and London Heathrow to Vancouver and Calgary. Additionally, Air Canada customers will benefit from seamless domestic connectivity to Amritsar, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Kochi via Delhi, and to Delhi and Mumbai via London (Heathrow).
Campbell Wilson, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Air India, said, "More than two million people travel between India and Canada each year, reuniting families, fulfilling students' dreams, and preparing businesses for the future. The resumption of our partnership with Air Canada is making travel easier for thousands of people every day."

"As a proud Star Alliance member airline, Air India is committed to the alliance's objective of providing seamless travel around the world," Wilson said. Customers with itineraries combining flights operated by Air India and Air Canada can travel on a single ticket and take advantage of integrated baggage allowances.
Air India said in a statement that, following regulatory approval, the codeshare flights will be gradually made available for sale through the airlines' respective booking channels and travel agents worldwide. "Starting December 2, 2025, subject to regulatory approval, we will reinstate our codeshare agreement with Star Alliance member Air India, providing more convenient travel options between Canada and India, offering seamless connections and an expanded network for customers," Air Canada said in a post on X.
