Google Brings AI-Powered Photo Editing to Google Photos Users in India

Google has begun to roll out new AI-based editing features in Google Photos for its users in India. Now, Android users of Google Photos will be able to edit their photos using text or voice commands to specify what they want to change, rather than having to use the editing tools and sliders. Google claims these features have been developed using its Gemini and are available on Android devices that run Android 8.0 or higher and have at least 4GB of RAM. These features were first rolled out to Google Photos users in select markets across the globe last year.

According to a blog post published by the Mountain View-based tech giant, users in India can now ask Google Photos to make common edits like blurring the background, removing reflections from windows, fixing glare, sharpening images, adjusting colors, or improving lighting via text or voice commands. Multiple edits can also be combined into a single request, allowing users to straighten photos, fix shadows, and improve colors simultaneously.

Google is also providing personalized edits for users in Photos, enabling users to make requests such as removing a friend's sunglasses, opening someone's eyes, or making someone smile. According to reports, this feature uses a user's private face group image to apply more precise edits, especially in group photos where small details are often missed.
