T20 World Cup 2026 Final Likely at Narendra Modi Stadium; India and Sri Lanka to Co-Host Tournament

Less than 100 days remain for the T20 World Cup 2026. The International Cricket Council, or ICC, has not yet issued any official updates on the venue. However, if media reports are to be believed, the final match of the World Cup this time will also be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.

This stadium also hosted the final of the 2023 ODI World Cup in India, which Australia won after defeating India. More than 100,000 people can watch matches at this stadium. The ICC will announce the comprehensive schedule for the tournament soon. According to The Indian Express, a meeting of top BCCI officials decided that this year's World Cup will be played in fewer cities than in 2023, so that at least six matches can be held at each venue.

The BCCI has shortlisted Ahmedabad, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, and Mumbai as venues for the T20 World Cup. All Pakistan matches will be played in Sri Lanka. Three stadiums have been selected for this purpose. However, the venues for these venues have not yet been decided. Sri Lanka will serve as a neutral venue for Pakistan's matches, as per the agreement with India.

It is also unclear whether Bengaluru and Lucknow will be selected to host matches, as this tournament is being jointly organized by India and Sri Lanka. According to the BCCI, the T20 World Cup 2026 will not be held in the same venues where the recent Women's World Cup was played. Guwahati, Visakhapatnam, Indore, and Navi Mumbai hosted Women's World Cup matches.
