AUS vs WI: Australia beats West Indies by 10 wickets, Hazlewood wreaks havoc after Travis Head's century
Australia vs West Indies, Adelaide test: Australia defeated the West Indies cricket team by 10 wickets in the first test to take the lead in the 2-match series. The host team achieved the small target of 26 runs to win the Adelaide Test. This match could not continue even for three days.
The first match of the two-match Test series being played between world champions Australia and West Indies was played at the Adelaide Oval. In this one-sided match, Australia defeated the West Indies by 10 wickets with the help of a brilliant century by Travis Head. Australia had a target of only 26 runs to win. With this win, Australia has continued its unbeaten streak in Tests against West Indies since 2003.
The West Indies team collapsed for 188 runs in its first innings. Kirk McKenzie scored a half-century and scored 50 runs for the Caribbean team. No other batsman could do anything special. Captain Kraigg Brathwaite was out after scoring 13 runs, Tejnarine Chanderpaul six runs, Alik Athanaje 13 runs, Kevam Hodge 12 runs, Justin Greaves five runs, Joshua da Silva six runs, Alzarri Joseph 14 runs, Gudakesh Moti one run and Shamar Joseph was out after scoring 36 runs. Whereas Kemar Roach remained unbeaten after scoring 17 runs. For Australia, Josh Hazlewood and captain Pat Cummins took four wickets each. Whereas, Mitchell Starc and Nathan Lyon got one wicket each.
In reply, Australia's first innings ended at 283 runs. Travis Head once again scored a century for Australia. Head played an innings of 119 runs in 134 balls with the help of 12 fours and three sixes. His replacement Usman Khawaja contributed 45 runs. No other batsman could do anything special.
Steve Smith, who came to open for the first time, was out after scoring 12 runs, Marnus Labuschagne 10 runs, Cameron Green 14 runs, Mitchell Marsh 5 runs, Alex Carey 15 runs, Mitchell Starc 10 runs, captain Pat Cummins 12 runs and Nathan Lyon was out after scoring 24 runs. Australia got a lead of 95 runs in the first innings. Shamar Joseph, who was debuting for West Indies, took five wickets. Whereas, Kemar Roach and Justin Greaves got two wickets each. Alzarri Joseph took one wicket.
