Shinde said - Election Commission of India is an independent body: Sharad Pawar had said - BJP misused its power
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Thursday said that the Election Commission of India is an independent body which takes decisions on the basis of merit. Our government is made according to the rules. Shinde's statement came after NCP chief Sharad Pawar's allegation. Pawar had said that the BJP misused its power to influence the Election Commission's decision on the name and symbol of the Shiv Sena.
Actually, Pawar had said that someone had made some complaint to the Election Commission. He pronounced the verdict and allotted the Shiv Sena and its symbol to someone else. This is a big attack on political parties. Targeting the BJP, he alleged that the Election Commission has taken a decision in favour of those in power at the Centre. Pawar made this statement at a program for members of the minority community in Pune.
The Election Commission gave a decision a few days ago. This is an example of how an institution can be misused. We have never seen such a decision from the Election Commission. Many issues were raised with the Election Commission till now but never took such a decision.
A decision where it took away from someone and gave a political party to someone else. We all know that Balasaheb Thackeray gave birth to Shiv Sena. He had said in his last days that Uddhav Thackeray would take over the responsibility of the party after him.
Pawar said that every central agency, including the ECI, is giving decisions as per the wishes of the people in power in the country. It is a threat that has now extended to political parties. This is a big attack on democracy, which is not going to stop. Because it will decide who will run the country.
