RBI Survey: Indian families confident of reduction in inflation, said - price pressure is reducing

Indian households are certain that inflation will be reduced. The perception of inflation among them is better now. According to the Reserve Bank of India's Household Inflation Expectations Survey for May 2025, the average perception of inflation has declined.

There has been a slight improvement in this as compared to March 2025. It came down from 7.8% in March to 7.7% in May. The survey said that inflation is likely to remain stable at 8.9% for the next three months. While expectations after one year have come down by 20 basis points to 9.5%. The survey showed that families feel that the pressure on prices is reducing in both the short term and the medium term. Compared to the previous survey, fewer people now expect prices and inflation to increase.

RBI surveyed 6,090 people in 19 major cities of India between May 2 and May 11. In this, the public's view on inflation is known. The survey revealed that people expected more price increase in food products in the next three months, it was 82.8%. This was followed by 78.3% in housing and 75.3% in non-food items.
