Poco M8 5G Launching in India on January 8: Display, Chipset, Updates Confirmed

The Poco M8 5G is soon going to be launched in India. Before its launch, Xiaomi's subsidiary has revealed a number of details related to this upcoming device. The phone comes with a 6.77-inch 3D curved display. The Poco M8 5G is going to be powered by a Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 processor. The Poco M8 5G is going to run on a HyperOS 2 operating system with a promise of four years of android updates.
The company announced through a microsite on Flipkart that PocoM85G will come with a display of 6.77 inches (2,392 x 1,080 pixels), which will have a refresh rate of 120Hz and will come with a peak brightness of 3,200 nits. The display is claimed to offer 100 percent coverage of DCI-P3 and will come with Wet Touch 2.0 Support.
According to the Xiaomi subsidiary, this upcoming M-series handset will be powered by the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset. Its AnTuTu benchmark score is claimed to exceed 825,000, which is 83 percent higher than the Poco M7 5G. It is confirmed that the Snapdragon processor will be accompanied by up to 16GB of RAM, including 8GB of virtual RAM.

The Poco M8 5G is advertised to run on Android 15-based HyperOS 2. The brand has promised four years of Android updates and six years of security patches. It's also confirmed that it will soon receive an update to Android 16-based HyperOS 3.
Previously, the company had stated that the Poco M8 5G will be 7.35mm thick and weigh 178g. It will also have an IP66 rating for ingress protection, as well as SGS MIL-STD-810 certification. Regarding the camera, the upcoming handset is said to feature a 50-megapixel AI-powered primary camera.
The teaser image shows a square-shaped camera module in the center, housing two camera sensors and an LED flash. The upcoming Poco M8 5G will launch in India on January 8.
