Rescue operations of people on board the cargo ship, that overturned off Oman coast, are underway. Eight Indians have been rescued safely on Thursday. Along with this, body of one has also been recovered. Union External Affairs Minister took stock of situation and assured to provide all possible help.

The Indian Navy warship INS Tej has been carrying out rescue and search operation in the waters off the coast of Oman since MT Prestige Falcon capsized on July 15. So far, nine crew members have been rescued to safety from the crashed ship as part of the rescue operation. This includes eight Indians and one citizen of Sri Lanka. During this, the body of an Indian crew member has also been recovered. The Government of India is also becoming very cautious about it. Apart from this, it is also making all possible efforts to help the families affected by it.

The cargo ship capsized off the Oman coast three days ago. There were 16 people on board, including 13 Indians. Earlier, sources had said that nine crew members of MT Falcon Prestige had been rescued during the search operation. This includes eight Indians and one Sri Lankan national. Search and rescue operations will continue to find the remaining crew members. The Indian Embassy in Oman is in touch with the concerned authorities of the Gulf country. The ship MT Falcon Prestige sent a distress call on July 14 off the coast of Oman at around 10 pm.

Rescue and search operations are still on, as the Navy and Omani authorities work to locate the remaining missing crew members. At the same time, advanced equipment and personnel were deployed to locate and assist the crew trapped in the water. The Indian Navy said that 9 crew members of MV Falcon Prestige were rescued safely through the operation. Rescue operations will continue to search for the remaining crew members.
