The work of cleaning the drains has started before the arrival of the monsoon in Rajasthan. Although the date of arrival of monsoon is 20 June, this time it has arrived before time in the southern and northeastern states. In such a situation, there are chances to enter Rajasthan ahead of time as well. Because of this, the process of drain cleaning has commenced ahead of the rains in the state. Rain has fallen in various parts of the Bikaner Division, Shekhawati, Jaipur, and Bharatpur Division in the past 24 hours. According to the Meteorological Department, there will be some reduction in rain activities in the state on 31 May and 1 June. After this, strong storms and rain can be seen in the state from 2 to 4 June.

This time, the southwest monsoon is progressing rapidly due to the effect of the Somali Jet (low-level wind stream). According to meteorologists, the onset date of monsoon in Rajasthan was fixed on 20 June, but at present it is running about 15 days before its scheduled time.

This is a low-level wind stream, in which low-level winds blow from Mauritius and Madagascar and are moving fast, carrying the southwest monsoon with them. So far, the monsoon has crossed Mumbai in Maharashtra. It will likely reach central India by the end of May.
