Flexi-staffing is a form of employment where employees are recruited not on a permanent but on a project-based, contractual, or temporary basis. In that, the duration of work, working time, and the term of the contract can change. Flexi-staffing is increasingly used in India, particularly in sectors like e-commerce, logistics, manufacturing and IT, and healthcare. Business companies are embracing this model to manage business uncertainties and maintain costs.
ISF said in a report that despite cautious market sentiment in the last quarter of FY25 due to geopolitical scenarios and trade wars, the industry added 1.39 lakh new formal flexi workers in 2024-25. The total formal flexi workforce represented by ISF members increased to 18 lakh.
