India has recorded a significant gain in its passport ranking since January 2025, and has improved from 85th to 77th ranking. India's passport ranking has risen by eight positions. India has achieved visa access to 59 nations. This has been evidenced in the Henley Passport Index ranking.

Singapore has maintained the number one ranking in the Henley Passport Index, offering visa-free travel to 193 of 227 global destinations. The July 2025 index is developed from unique information from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and reflects destinations to which a passport provides access without a visa in advance. Japanese and South Korean neighbours are placed second and tied with visa-free travel to 190 destinations.

According to the new ranking, India's visa-free access has seen only two new destinations added. Despite this, the improvement has been attributed to increased diplomatic access and bilateral agreements.

Saudi Arabia has also benefited from the new passport ranking. Its visa-free destinations have improved by four places. The country's ranking has climbed four places to 54th with 91 destinations. The UK and the US have slipped in the ranking. The United Kingdom has fallen to 6th place, providing visa-free access to 186 countries. The United States is now ranked 10th with access to 182 destinations. The ranking of both countries has declined steadily over the past decade. It is worth noting that this is the first time that the US is in danger of being out of the top 10 in terms of passport ranking.

Seven EU countries - Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy and Spain - are jointly ranked third, and each country's passport allows visa-free travel to 189 countries. Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal and Sweden are in fourth place. These countries' passports allow travel to 188 countries. New Zealand, Greece and Switzerland are also among the top five countries, and their passports provide visa-free access to 187 countries.
