Government got 12 Indians released from Libya

The government has rescued 12 Indians who were sent to Libya for labour on the promise of jobs in Dubai. All have been brought to India safely. The work of rescuing them was done by the National Minorities Commission.
After returning to their homeland, these people narrated their ordeal. Most of the people who have returned from Libya are of the Sikh religion. The one who is from Punjab told that he was made to work in Libya without a salary. Fighting was also done by keeping them hungry.
According to reports, he had lost his job in the lockdown during Corona. The agents had promised these 12 people good jobs in Dubai. However, when these people reached Dubai, they were told that there was no place for them there.
A person named Jamaldin told the Times of India – We had taken a loan of 50 to 70 thousand rupees to go to Dubai. When we could not find a job in Dubai, we were given the option of Libya. Which we accepted because we needed work.
Jamaldin said that he was taken to Libya and made to work as a labourer at a construction site. There we were neither given proper food nor were we given a salary for our work. Among the 12 people rescued from Libya, apart from Punjab, one person is also from Bihar and one from Himachal Pradesh.
The National Minority Commission will issue a nationwide advisory to caution people against false job promises. Commission's chairman Iqbal Singh Lalpura in a press conference has also asked the Punjab government to take appropriate steps to save the youth from agents making false promises of providing them jobs.
He told that the African country Tunisia was also contacted to rescue these 12 people. These were brought back to India in two batches between February and March.
