Carrying Firecrackers on Trains Could Lead to Fine or Jail, Warns West Central Railway
Kota News: The West Central Railway, Kota Division, has appealed to passengers on Diwali to refrain from carrying firecrackers or flammable materials during train travel. Doing so is a punishable offense, punishable by a fine and imprisonment up to three years.
Keeping the Diwali festival in mind, the West Central Railway, Kota Division, has urged travelers to avoid bringing firecrackers, explosives, or any inflammable objects on trains. The rail administration has prioritized passenger safety above all else and further enhanced monitoring and checking. Warning stickers have been installed at principal stations and trains so that people are aware of the regulations and do not experience any accidents.
The railway administration has made it clear that it is very risky to carry objects like firecrackers, petroleum products, gas cylinders, kerosene, matches, stoves, lighters, dry bushes, or leaves while traveling. This is an offense that can be punished under Sections 67, 164, and 165 of the Indian Railways Act, 1989. Violations can result in a fine of up to ₹1,000, imprisonment of up to three years, or both.
Divisional Railway Manager Anil Kalra stated that during Diwali, passengers often unknowingly bring firecrackers or other inflammable materials with them, which sometimes causes serious accidents. He added that even a small spark can cause a major fire and loss of life. Therefore, passengers have been urged not to carry such items, and if any passenger is seen carrying suspicious items, they should immediately inform railway officials.
The Kota Division has deployed additional security teams at stations and trains to ensure safety. Regular inspections and scanning of platforms and coaches are being conducted. Officials stated that during Diwali, the passenger rush increases, and any negligence could lead to a major accident. Therefore, the administration will not relax safety measures.
