On Saturday, First Deputy Managing Director of the IMF Gita Gopinath was met by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. India is prepared to investigate further avenues to strengthen its collaboration with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), according to the Finance Minister during the meeting.

Gopinath complimented the Finance Minister for maintaining policy continuity in the Government of India's chosen path of fiscal consolidation during the meeting.

The Finance Ministry wrote in a post on X, "Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that India attaches great importance to its relationship and continued engagement with the IMF and is now considering taking it further. The Government of India is ready to explore more ways to enhance cooperation with the IMF." On the other hand, Gita Gopinath acknowledged the vibrancy of the Indian economy and praised the strength of India's relationship with the IMF. She said that this relationship is valuable for India, the IMF, and the world.
