Amazon India Raises Storage Fees Again, Sellers Express Concerns Over Rising Costs

Commerce giant Amazon India has jacked up its warehouse storage charge by about 11 per cent. The new rate would come into force from November 15, 2025, onwards. It will now charge ₹50 per cubic centimeter a month. According to the company, the fee increase is required to account for changes in market conditions and increased operational costs.

Amazon revised its storage fees for the first time since 2023. This year, the company also waived referral fees on more than 12 million low-priced products priced up to ₹300. For products priced between ₹300 and ₹500 - including categories such as bedsheets, watches, home furnishings, and ethnic wear - fees have been reduced by only 1% or less. However, the fees on higher-priced categories - including fashion and small appliances - were reduced as much as by up to 7%.

Amazon stated that its overall fee growth rate has significantly decreased in 2025, but many sellers expressed concern about rising costs and frequent revisions. Merchants said that frequent increases in storage and other fees are eroding the benefits of lower referral fees, and some claim they were not consulted before the latest changes.

A Pune-based seller said that Amazon is now revising the fee structure every six months and is not consulting sellers. They keep saying it's in the best interest of sellers, but it's a one-way street.

Nagma, a Bengaluru-based seller who is also listed on six other platforms, including ONDC, said Amazon remains the best-performing marketplace for small sellers, but it should consult the seller community before implementing changes. Nagma said, "We're seeing a greater traction on Amazon, but they should take sellers into confidence instead of imposing unilateral changes."

Sellers also expressed concern about the cost increase introduced in 2025. In June, sellers said Amazon India began charging a flat marketplace fee of ₹5 per order, regardless of value or Prime status.
