94 crore people are getting social security scheme benefits, the country is getting empowered by Antyodaya-Inclusive Development Policy
The figures released by the International Labor Organization (ILO) recently confirm this change. While in 2015 only 19 percent of India's population was considered to be under the purview of social security, by 2025 this figure has increased to 64.3%. That is, 94 crore Indians are now benefiting from at least one social security scheme.

The change in the social security sector in India over the last decade is now gaining continuous international recognition. Recent figures from the International Labor Organization (ILO) confirm this shift. While in 2015 only 19 percent of India's population was covered by social security, by 2025 this number has risen to 64.3 percent. This means 94 crore Indians are now benefiting from at least one social security scheme. This is a significant achievement not only for India but also from a global perspective. The expansion of social security in India reflects more than just increased numbers; it indicates a fundamental shift in policy approach. Previously, welfare schemes were often limited to political show or election rhetoric, but now they are part of a data-driven, legally supported, and institutionally verified framework. This shift is also boosting the trust of rural and poor communities in the system.
Over the past ten years, schemes focused on reaching the last person have made it clear that welfare is no longer just a government slogan but a core responsibility. The government’s greatest success has been transforming welfare programs into 'digital transfer-based justice.' Through Direct Benefit Transfer, Rs 44 lakh crore has been directly deposited into beneficiaries’ accounts.
When it comes to social security, Ayushman Bharat-PMJAY stands out. This scheme has become the world's largest government health insurance program. The treatment of over 6 crore hospitalizations and insurance coverage for more than 50 crore people demonstrates that the Modi government has made health a right for every citizen. The Code on Social Security-2020 is also proving to be a revolutionary step in social security. Schemes like Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan, Atal Pension Yojana, Kisan Maandhan Yojana, and the National Old Age Pension Scheme are providing financial support to senior citizens.
The ILO emphasizes that social security should go beyond financial aid and be linked to quality of life. This philosophy is clearly reflected in the schemes of the Modi government. Har Ghar Jal Yojana provided clean drinking water to crores of households, while PM Awas Yojana has constructed over 4 crore homes. Saubhagya Yojana and Ujjwala Yojana extended electricity and clean fuel access to millions. This expansion of social security and its results prove that India is no longer just a land of beneficiaries—it's becoming a democratic economy that cares for its last citizen.
