‘They’re Legends’: Gurbaz Says World Cup Teams Relieved Without Rohit, Kohli

After the successful campaign in the T20 World Cup 2024, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli announced their retirement from T20 Internationals and Test cricket earlier this year. Now these two veterans represent India only in the ODI format, and their current form is stellar. Yet, their participation in the 2027 World Cup came under question. However, now it has been confirmed that both of them will play in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. This makes it clear that Rohit and Virat will play in the 2027 World Cup. Meanwhile, Afghanistan wicketkeeper-batsman Rahmanullah Gurbaz has said that if Rohit and Virat don't play in the tournament, his team will have a chance to win the 2027 World Cup.

In an interview with Sports Tak, Rahmanullah Gurbaz said that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are high-level players and that other teams will feel more confident in the World Cup without these two experienced Indian players. However, he also admitted that their absence is not a good thing.

Gurbaz said that as an Afghan player, he would be happy if both of them were not in the Indian team, because without them, our chances of winning would be better. They are legends. He further said that no one has the right to say that Virat should not be in the team or Rohit should not be in the team. Every team would be happy if they were not in the team. They are big names and they are very good players.
