Nothing phone users get ready, Android 16-based new OS is coming; New features will be available
Nothing showed a glimpse of its new Nothing OS 4.0 during the Phone 3 launch in July. Now the company has confirmed that this Android 16-based update will soon be rolled out in a stable version. Earlier, its closed beta was received by select users. New UI design icons widgets and many extra features will be given in this update. Its public rollout will start in Autumn 2025.
Nothing showed the first glimpse of the upcoming operating system (OS) update during the July launch of its latest flagship, the Nothing Phone 3. After this, it was announced in a Nothing Community post that the first closed beta of Nothing OS 4.0 had started rolling out on the Nothing Phone 3. Now, the company has announced that the first stable version of this upcoming Nothing OS will be released soon, and afterward, the rollout will begin.
The UK-based smartphone maker stated in a post on X (formerly Twitter) that the stable version of Nothing OS 4.0, based on Android 16, will soon start rolling out to Nothing Phone models. Besides this, the Carl Pei-led company has also teased the design of its new user interface. The company shared a video revealing that many icons will be redesigned in the new OS update.
